About us

 A Legacy of Excellence…

Texas Crew was the first collegiate rowing team in Texas, merging the athletic spirit of the University of Texas with the prestige and rigor of the Ivy tradition of rowing. Since 1969, Our club has represented UT Austins recreational sports in races across the nation competing against both varsity and other club programs. Under US Rowing we compete at regattas across the nation, most recently winning the Men’s small boats trophy at the American Collegiate Rowing Associations National Championship (ACRA).

History

For the past 55 years, Texas Crew has proudly represented the competitive spirit of the University of Texas at Austin. In 1969, Texas Crew held its first practice on the waters of Town Lake.

Since then, our team has grown significantly, becoming one of the largest intercollegiate programs in the state of Texas.

In 2012, our boathouse was suddenly sold, and we were left with no place to store our fleet. Texas Crew is not an NCAA program so we receive little funding from the university. It is up to our rowers to fundraise to keep our team competitive. Through the rigorous work of our team, we secured a new dock at Texas Rowing Center, and we have been launching from TRC ever since.

Our focus has now shifted to growing our program into one of the best in the country.

Our Team

Texas Crew emphasizes accessibility, community, and competition. We welcome athletes of any experience level to our men’s and women’s squads.

Within each squad is a Novice team, for first year Texas Crew members, and a Varsity team, for athletes that have been on the team for more than one season.

As a student-run organization, our leadership is made up of current UT students. These students make decisions for the team, manage the budget, organize socials, fix equipment, and hire our incredible coaching staff.
